Pilgrim Press proudly presents its new logo

I just love it. When I first saw it earlier tonight I chuckled. And then I started laughing. I couldn’t stop grinning. It was just crazy. I really like it. It’s a cock tower. And it has a little archway at the base! God, that’s so fucking awesome. And those two “sisters” are sitting just over the horizon, waiting for some intrepid pilgrim to summit them.

Here is an excerpt from the exchange I sent to our artist earlier today:

[H.G. Lightly] and I have struggled with identifying an icon and have thrown up our hands. We were just discussing it this morning and I’d like to share our experiences with you, to help you figure out what might work better for us, and to prevent us from going down the wrong path.

Pilgrim Press doesn’t really lend itself very well to an obvious image. We tried all manner of sexy pilgrims, boxy hats with buckles, turkeys, etc. None of it looks particularly sexy. All of it reminds me of some sort of wacky thanksgiving day orgy, but not in a good way.

We’ve tried printing presses. It’s difficult to make a printing press look sexy.

My partner suggested the idea of journey, a quest. Some sort of pilgrimage. I like that idea.

I was thinking of some sort of stone tower. Maybe if it echoed a penis that might be good. If it did, we’d have to add something female to the mix, so we don’t give customers the wrong impression.

I don’t know. It’s a dilemma.

And that my friends is all it took. Our artist is a genius. And incredibly generous. His rates were incredibly reasonable, especially given he’s such a talented man.

I also love the “bouncy” letters in the new banner ad. If we ever move to print books, I’m going to make sure that cock tower and boob mountain are featured prominently on every spine.

  1. I’m going to take this opportunity to self-promote a little bit if that’s ok with you! My email is right.s.f@gmail.com and I’m a reasonably priced branding graphic designer. I do shirts, business cards, signage, logos, hats, shoes, letterhead, custom vehicle vinyl and wraps, websites and, well… basically anything you can imagine! Here are some other examples of my work and what it’s like to hire me:
